On 24 March 2022, the Dutch competence center for innovation procurement PIANOo will organise an ‘expedition’ across Amsterdam and The Hague to observe how AI technology is used to improve the management and maintenance of public spaces. The focus will be on AI solutions that are still being tested, or are in an even earlier stage of development. The expedition hopes to give a better understanding of how governments can prepare now to be able to buy in the future the technology currently being developed.
Around 50 public contractors and their advisors will attend the expedition, led by Eppo Bruins, former MP and current member of the Netherlands Academy of Technology and Innovation (ACTI) Together with public servants, scientists and entrepreneurs they will explore questions such as: What can AI technology bring us? What are the administrative, legal and ethical frameworks needed for the application of these technologies? What is required of public organisations to be able to purchase these technologies?
The event will start in the morning in Amsterdam, where the Municipality will show how it is developing AI solutions aimed at predictive maintenance. Furthermore, startups like Oddity.ai & Braincreators will show how they apply AI solutions in public space. In the afternoon the group will take the bus to The Hague where they will hear from TNO, TU Delft and Leiden Univeristy about the legal, administrative and ethical aspects of AI, and the AI innovations that can be expected in the coming three to five years,
The event will be in Dutch and will take place, Covid regulations permitting, on 24 March from 9-17. For more information and to register click here. Registration is free of charge, but you need to register as a couple. The idea behind this is that innovation in the public space requires cooperation across different departments and organisations.
