New model for Innovation Procurement Brokerage revealed

Over the past 2 years, Innovation Procurement Brokers (IPB) has been testing pilot brokerage schemes in five regions in Europe, including the Upper Austria Region, Denmark, North Rhine Westphalia (Germany), Ireland and Andalusia (Spain)

On 30th of July 2020, IPB held an online seminar (details here) to share the key learnings and experience of these regional brokers, and for the first time present the newly developed Innovation Procurement Brokerage (IPB) Business Model.

The IPB project identified a range of nine services typically provided by innovation procurement brokers: procurement promotion; need identification; strategy development; market analysis; buyer-supplier matching; financing identification; procurement upscaling; tender procedure support; and benefit demonstration.

Marlene Grauer, coordinator of Procure2Innovate wrapped up the event, making the link between innovation brokerage services and the services available through competence centres for innovation procurement. Several competence centres across Europe provide a similar range of services, including ZENIT, which makes up part of the German competence centre for innovation procurement, and Ireland’s competence centre PTI, both of who participate in the Innovation Procurement Brokers project.
