Lithuania Joins Procure2Innovate Network As Associate Country

Lithuania’s Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology (MITA) has joined the Procure2Innovate network as an associate partner, giving an early boost to this ambitious initiative’s development.

On 24 July, Procure2Innovate announced that the Vilnius-based Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology (MITA) has joined the Procure2Innovate network.

Formally recognised as an associate partner, Lithuania’s MITA will join a variety of activities within the framework of Procure2Innovate’s multi-year mandate, while the Agency itself works towards the creation of a new innovation procurement competence centre in Lithuania.

MITA is already training and supporting public authorities in Lithuania to use pre-commercial procurement approaches, but is looking to expand its focus in the months and years ahead.

The news of MITA’s addition to the network is part of a general campaign to attract further member states of the European Union to join the project, and was warmly welcomed by Procure2Innovate project co-ordinator Marlene Grauer.

Ms Grauer said: “The addition of Lithuania to Procure2Innovate is a first result of intensive work with the European Commission, and this will add real value to the Procure2Innovate network and our activities over the coming years.”
